RAD is entering its 10th year as a non-profit dedicated to working with singer-songwriters to help them arrange, produce and record their original music and to provide them with career and artistic development. We are proud to have worked with so many very talented emerging artists and look forward to serving many more. RAD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. RAD’s Singer Songwriter Contest held at Gizzis NYC September 18 and 19 was a great success! RAD thanks the wonderful singer songwriters in all genre who showed us their talent. RAD awarded two First Prizes to: Joel Castillo and Aaron Costa Ganis who have been invited to record for free their original songs with RAD Producer Phil Carroll in RAD’s Fall Recording Session. Two Second Prizes went to: Matt Mazur and the duo Christopher Thomas and Ben Kahn. Additional prizes were awarded to: Sabreen “YaYa” Fournier, Ryoko Fujimoto, Jenn Freidman, Sasha Hawkins, Blake Mallay, Emmy Mudge, Julia Pernicone, Erel Pilo, Joey Ruckus, Nurita Abramovitz, Alex Akin, Cara Axelrad, Julia Buisson, Braxton Hicks, Sarah Kervin, and Nettie Smith. RAD’s Fall 2012 Recording Session is underway! Producer Phil Carroll is working with a number of very talented singer songwriters to arrange, produce and record their original music, including First Prize Winners Castillo and Costa Ganis who are each recording an original song for free, and contest winners Braxton Hicks and Emmy Mudge who were also awarded free studio consults and recording hours. Last Summer’s First Prize Winner, Val Kinzler, is continuing to record her original music with Phil Carroll in this RAD Session, and is working on a full length CD. Also continuing to record with RAD is last Summer’s contest winner, Darren Glick, and recording artists Peter Braun, Jon Devenandan, Cyndi Goretski, and Matt Parker. Winners of RAD’s recent Open Mic Singing Contest will be formally announced at RAD Night, 7-10pm, June 15 at Gizzis, 16 West 8th Street, bet. MacDougal and 5th Ave. in NYC. We had a great turnout for the contest in May. Many wonderful singer-songwriters showed their talent, performing songs in all genre. First Prize goes to Val Kinzler. Val is recording her song for free in the RAD Summer 2012 Recording Session which began this week. Other winners received free studio time and consults with RAD Producer Phil Carroll and Guitar Center gift certificates. Josh Sachs and Kevin Carr are Second Prize winners. All will be performing at Gizzis June 15, along with RAD Artists Marc Raphael, Mike Aiello and Emily Rupp. Marc’s CD with RAD is soon to be released. Mike and Emily are 2011 Contest Winners.
